As we launch into our new year, my thoughts turn to visionary thinkers.
As so many excitedly think about their goals and dreams for the coming year, I am reminded of the words of John Wooden who said, “Don’t give up on your dreams or your dreams will give up on you.”
Very often a great number of people entertain New Year’s resolutions without true intent and consequently, they do not achieve those things. They are the ones who keep saying they’re going to achieve the same things over and over, from year to year. That reminds me of the brilliant quote from Henry Ford, “Whether you believe you can, or you can’t, you’re right.”
Now, I’m not suggesting that you have to work hard to achieve your desires and visions. But you do have to envision them on a fairly regular basis, and you must believe you can achieve them.
So, my question to you is, what do you want to see in your life this year?
What positive thoughts do you have in mind? My suggestion is that you sit with these thoughts and consciously turn them into intentions. Take charge of your mind and imagine yourself functioning in your day-to-day affairs with patience instead of petulance. Imagine yourself acting poised and powerfully with compassion and kindness.
Kindness is essential. As the Dalai Lama XIV says, “My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.” As your year unfolds be kind to yourself and be joyful as you move into your dreams. And remember to laugh along the way, because, as Thomas Mann has stated, “Laughter is the sunbeam of the soul.” Happy New Year to all. May your year be filled with good health, love, laughter and the fulfillment of your dreams.
